Trump administration seeks de-escalation in Minneapolis despite backlash

US President Donald Trump said on January 27 that a “major investigation” was underway into the killing of protester and intensive care nurse Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis. It marks a shift by the White House after the incident sparked nationwide outrage and protests. Many suspect the departure of Greg Bovino, Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement commander, to be a sign of a change in direction by the administration.
