The latest Fast And Furious movie has a ridiculous title and release date

We are SO back, people. Despite the immense success of the increasingly ridiculous “Fast & Furious” films, things seem to have stopped after the even more ridiculous “Fast X” in 2023. The behind-the-scenes drama that led to director Justin Lin’s departure it already felt like a disaster, while the power struggle that began afterwards After the release of the film (complicated by Star Vin Diesel’s Bizarre List of Requests) only made things even more complicated. But, as anyone who has watched these films should know, you never turn your back on your family. When all hope was lost, we finally received the news we had all been waiting for.

Universal Pictures has officially announced that the upcoming film “Fast” now has an official release date and a perfect title. Get ready to rev your engines for “Fast Forever,” according to Varietysince the upcoming film is expected to hit theaters with uncountable power on March 17, 2028. Diesel also took Instagram to tout the news, posting a photo of himself and original star Paul Walker on the set of 2001’s “Fast and the Furious” and alluding to the latter sequel’s troubled production history. As he explained in the caption:

No one said the road would be easy… but it is ours.
The one who defined us and became our legacy…
And a legacy…lasts forever.
March 17, 2028!
FAST FOREVER

The next Fast & Furious movie is officially titled Fast Forever, but we don’t know much else about it.

As hilarious as it would have been if that monster cliffhanger that ended “Fast X” was simply never resolved and represented our final picture of the racing family, this storyline is now officially abandoned with the announcement of “Fast Forever”. The aptly titled sequel will (apparently) pick up where the previous film left off, resolving the dire situation our cast found themselves in at the hands of the villainous Dante, played by Jason Momoa. For those who may have forgotten, he had just blown up a dam, cut down most of the supporting cast in a fiery explosion, and was about to wipe out our main characters for good. Ah and yet another character inexplicably returned from the dead in Giselle by Gal Gadot. You know, typical “Fast & Furious” stuff.

So how is “Fast Forever” going to tie up all these loose ends, you ask? Your guess is as good as ours, since we know virtually nothing else about the upcoming film. There’s no word on a director or even writers attached to the script (assuming there is one), no news on which actors will be returning or what new additions will be made, and certainly no semblance of a premise to go off of in the meantime. It’s also unclear if this is still considered the franchise’s grand finale. What could possibly go wrong?!

For now, we are in wait-and-see mode as production shifts into high gear in the coming months. Stay tuned for potential casting announcements, the hiring of a director (dare we wonder if it could be Diesel himself?), and hopefully a synopsis. What’s important is that the family is back, baby.
