After weeks of speculation, Kelly Clarkson has decided to step away from “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” which will end after seven seasons. There has been speculation that the show might have continued with another host; however, this does not appear to be the case. Clarkson has faced many challenges maintaining a consistent presence on the show over the past year, in part due to the death of her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

Kelly Clarkson to end ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ after 7 seasons

On February 2, Deadlinereported that “The Kelly Clarkson Show” will end after the series’ seventh season. The “Since U Been Gone” singer’s contract was set to end after season 7, and there have been widespread rumors in recent weeks that she will be stepping down from the show rather than seeking a renewal.
Luckily for fans, she will continue filming season 7 as planned and would also have a few guest hosts. The remaining episodes of the season will air throughout the fall. Clarkson herself issued a statement following the announcement of her departure.

Kelly Clarkson is ‘eternally grateful’ to her ‘exceptional’ cast and crew

In a statement shared by the publication, Clarkson said, “I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an exceptional group of people on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ both in Los Angeles and New York,” adding, “There have been so many incredible moments and shows over these seven seasons.”
“I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest group and crew you could hope for, all the talented and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show, and NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner,” she continued.

Clarkson admitted ending her show wasn’t an ‘easy decision’

The “Breakaway” singer admitted that “it wasn’t an easy decision” but explained that she had to put her family first.
“Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my children, which I feel is necessary and appropriate for this next chapter of our lives,” she continued. “This isn’t goodbye. I’ll continue to make music, play gigs here and there, and you might catch me on ‘The Voice’ from time to time…you never know where I might appear next.”
She concluded her statement by saying, “But for now, I want to thank you so much for allowing our show to be a part of your life, for believing in us, and sticking with us for seven incredible years.”

Her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock died last year

In August 2025, Kelly Clarkson’s ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, died at the age of 48. The talent agent was also the former stepson of country legend Reba McEntire.
“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Brandon Blackstock,” a family representative said. PEOPLEmagazine in a press release. “Brandon courageously battled cancer for over three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by his family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask that everyone respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

Clarkson postponed his Las Vegas residency due to his death

Clarkson shared two children with her ex-husband: a daughter named River and a son named Remington. In early August, she postponed her residency in Las Vegas in order to spend time with her children following the death of their father.
“Although I usually keep my personal life private, last year my children’s father was ill, and right now I need to be fully present for them,” Clarkson wrote in a statement. She then thanked fans for their “grace, kindness and understanding.”
The former couple married in October 2013, and their relationship inspired her 2015 song, “Piece by Piece.” After their marriage, Blackston became Clarkson’s manager; however, she filed for divorce in 2020 and finalized their divorce in 2022. At the time, Clarkson admitted it wasn’t an “overnight decision,” adding, “I wanted it to be beautiful.” I wanted to make it awesome. I wanted to make it everything it could be, and sometimes that just doesn’t happen.
