The Premier League Darts returns for a new season on Thursday, live on Sky SportsNewcastle hosting the opening night of the 2026 calendar.
Eight of the world’s best darts players compete over 17 nights of action, with tournaments held every Thursday from February 5 to May 28 at venues across the UK and Europe.
World champion Luke Littler and reigning Premier League champion Luke Humphries will headline the eight-man line-up, while world junior champion Gian van Veen and fellow Dutchman Michael van Gerwen will be the other automatic qualifiers.
Welsh duo Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton also feature, with Stephen Bunting – bottom of the Premier League last year – and debutant Josh Rock the other wildcard selections to complete the line-up.
Premier League Darts Matches in Newcastle
Every Premier League night – since 2022 – has become a mini-tournament where all eight players compete in four quarter-finals, with the winners progressing to the semi-finals and then a nightly final.
The opening night sees Littler take on Van Veen – in a repeat of the World Darts Championship final, with Clayton or Rock awaiting the winner, while Humphries takes on fellow former world champion Price and Van Gerwen takes on Bunting.

Where is the Premier League Darts taking place in Newcastle?
The first week in Newcastle takes place at the Utilita Arena.
The venue was previously known as Newcastle Arena, Telewest Arena and Metro Radio Arena, with a maximum capacity of around 11,000.
It was first used as a Premier League venue in 2007 and has been part of the calendar every year since, with the exception of the Covid-affected 2020 and 2021 editions.

Newcastle hosted week eight of the 2025 Premier League, with Littler beating Humphries 6-1 in the final to claim their fourth of six night wins that year.
Littler beat Stephen Bunting 6-0 and beat Rob Cross 6-3 en route to the final, while Michael Smith (2022), Price (2023) and Van Gerwen (2024) were other winners from the previous evening in Newcastle.
