Police in Pennsylvania have charged a 55-year-old man with murdering his parents with a massive knife, then killing his sister shortly after she found their bodies.
Kevin Castile is in custody without bail after being charged with numerous counts, including criminal homicide, possession of an instrument of crime, making terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another, and abuse of a corpse. The murders took place at his parents’ home in Northampton Township, located in Bucks County.
Castiglia allegedly killed his 84-year-old mother, Judith Castileand her 90-year-old husband, Fredwhile they were sleeping, he allegedly told authorities after the killings, according to court documents shared with Us every week.
He also murdered Deborah Castigliahis sister, aged 53.
Police began investigating the welfare of Castiglia’s parents and sister on Monday, January 26, after Deborah’s boyfriend called police to tell them he had been unable to reach her.
He told police he even stopped at his residence, where he was greeted by Kevin, who was wearing a dressing gown and brandishing a “Psycho” chef’s knife. Kevin allegedly told his boyfriend that Deborah was “probably” on vacation before warning her: “Don’t ever come here again or I’ll kill you.” »
Police went to the Castiglia home on Monday and were allegedly confronted by Kevin, who responded by brandishing the large knife in one hand and another blade in the other. Police said he began speaking “incoherently” and despite her best efforts, she was unable to dissuade Kevin from leaving the house.
What followed was a several-hour standoff and barricade situation that ended when a SWAT team broke a window in the rear of the residence and located Kevin in a room on the second floor. The police attempted to arrest Kevin, who just removed the probes from his body before slamming the door and locking it.
Once inside the house, police discovered the three bodies. Deborah was found dead in the kitchen, documents state, while the other two were found in a nearby room.
Autopsies on the victims were performed on Tuesday, January 27, but the cause of death was still pending at press time.
Bucks County Prosecutor Joe Khan praised the efforts of the Northampton Township Police and the South Central Emergency Response Team.
“Despite being confronted by an armed individual, under excruciating circumstances, for approximately five hours in freezing cold, officers used every available tactical resource to take the suspect alive, preventing further tragedy,” Khan said.
After officers arrested Kevin, he was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. According to court documents shared with Us every weekKevin allegedly told the doctor, “I hurt someone.” »
He later allegedly continued to confess, telling hospital staff: “I killed my parents in their sleep” and “I killed my sister when she found them.”
According to local reports, Deborah was a teacher in the Centennial School District for 26 years.
Kevin is due in court for a hearing on February 12.
