According to ABC Newsauthorities booked Sha’Carri Richardson in Orange County, Florida, on January 29 after allegedly driving more than 100 miles per hour. By Westdeputies reportedly arrested the Olympic track star after she allegedly reached 104 mph on SR 429 near Stoneybrook Parkway. Sha’Carri also allegedly “tailgated dangerously” and crossed lanes to pass other drivers. Shortly after her arrest, her photo surfaced, showing her wearing a black top and cornrow-style braids. Jail records reportedly show Sha’Carri remains behind bars on $500 bond.

Sha’Carri’s arrest in Florida is not his first legal trouble. In July 2025, the sprinter was arrested after an altercation with her boyfriend, Christian Coleman, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. TMZ obtained footage showing Sha’Carri in the middle of the argument. She spent 19 hours in prison before being released. Then, in August, she took to Instagram Stories to speak out about the incident, saying she was reflecting on what happened and holding herself fully responsible for her actions.
“A lot of introspection, a lot of understanding that not only putting myself in a compromising situation, but also someone that I have a lot of affection and appreciation for, is something that I hold myself accountable for,” she explained.
