THE first trailer for the new film “Masters of the Universe” recently gave us our first look at the big screen return of He-Man and all his friends and foes from Eternia. The popular 1980s franchise hasn’t been adapted into a film since 1987’s shockingly bad “Masters of the Universe: The Movie” starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, and Amazon MGM Studios is hoping to introduce the fantasy adventure to a whole new generation. As expected, this means we’ll have a whole new line of toys to go with it.
Mattel has been behind toys in the “Masters of the Universe” franchise since its inception, and they’re bringing He-Man back for collectors in a big way with an all-new line of detailed action figures inspired by the 2026 film. In fact, in addition to showing Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam Glenn/He-Man, the Prince of Eternia, and the villainous Skeletor digitally enhanced by Jared Leto, Mattel’s new line of action figures also revealed a few characters not seen in the trailer, such as Tri-Klops and Trap Jaw.

Mattel has the power, with the new Masters of the Universe figures
It wouldn’t be a “Masters of the Universe” toy line without He-Man, and Mattel isn’t wasting its time giving us a Nicholas Galitzine figure in his earthly clothing. No, they’re fine for He-Man action, and he clearly has his classic look from the animated series, giving us a hero who likes to show off his legs and arms.

But that’s not all, because He-Man will also benefit from the help of his faithful Battle Cat, the enormous green tiger who serves as He-Man’s steed. He also gets his trademark armor to fight like a badass beast.

Also on the hero side, we have Teela, played by “Riverdale” star Camila Mendes, and Man-at-Arms, her adoptive father played by Idris Elba. These figures show that Mattel is trying to fall somewhere between creating detailed figures that accurately replicate the actors in their respective roles while remaining true to the classic style of the toys. Like, obviously, Idris Elba is in fine form, having played two different Marvel movie charactersbut it is not built like that.
Skeletor is back, and he’s very skeletal
In the fight of good versus evil, Skeletor is one of pop culture’s iconic villains. While Jared Leto voices the villain and provides motion capture for the character, you won’t be able to tell it by his skeletal appearance, which stays pretty faithful to the original version of the character. I hope this helps keep Jared Leto’s box office poison after infecting the film.

Skeletor isn’t the only enemy He-Man and his friends will have to face. There’s also Evil-Lyn, played by “Community” and “GLOW” star Alison Brie, who also poses as Adam’s former college professor and mentor during his time on Earth.

Meanwhile, there are also two familiar villains in the form of Trap Jaw (Sam C. Wilson, right) and Tri-Klops (Kojo Attah, left), the former of whom is only seen very briefly from behind in the trailer and the latter is yet to be seen at all in any sequences.
Each of the figures will retail for $24.99, although Battlecat will retail for $39.99 and does not come with He-Man. All figures will arrive this spring, except for Teela and Evil-Lyn, who won’t be released until fall.
