Kendrick Lamar surpasses Jay-Z’s record to become most awarded rapper in Grammy history
According to the Daily Mailon Sunday, February 1, Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy wins reached a record 26. That would have broken Jay-Z’s record of winning a total of 25 Grammys — the most a rapper had ever won until Sunday with Lamar.
By Vulturethe ‘Not Like Us’ rapper kicked off the night with nominations for nine awards. Then he won “Best Rap Performance”, “Best Melodic Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Song”.

Then, as the ceremony continued, Lamar won the Grammy for “Best Rap Album,” officially breaking Hov’s record.

As of now, Jay-Z has not publicly reacted to Kendrick Lamar surpassing his record and making Grammy history. Note that the Roc Nation website shared a message congratulating its “Roc Fam Winners”. However, Lamar is not on the Roc’s roster.
