If you thought that Super Bowl it was just about touchdowns and halftime shows, make no mistake. As Bad Bunny prepares to headline the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show, ICE officers are reportedly preparing for a visible presence outside Levi’s Stadium. And they are turning what should be a celebration of football into a real political spectacle.

Bad Bunny, Green Day and the ICE Factor
This announcement comes after President Trump publicly criticized the 2026 artists, including Bad Bunny and Green Day, and confirmed he would boycott the event. Puerto Rican superstar Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio is openly avoiding touring the United States, fearing ICE will target his fans. Now that the Department of Homeland Security has confirmed ICE’s operations at the game, those fears are closer to reality than ever.
Even big game won’t stop law enforcement
Corey Lewandowski, chief advisor to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, made clear that this is not a temporary security measure. During a podcast appearance in October 2025, Lewandowski warned that there would be “Nowhere you can offer safe haven“for undocumented participants. »Not the Super Bowl and nowhere else” he said, emphasizing that enforcement would continue even during the biggest sporting event of the year.
“There is nowhere you can provide sanctuary to people in this country illegally. Not at the Super Bowl and nowhere else. We will find you. We will apprehend you. We will put you in a detention center and we will deport you. So please know that this is a very real situation under this administration, which is completely contrary to what it was.”

Justice? Or just intimidation? Federal Security Gets Real
Tricia McLaughlin, DHS assistant secretary for public affairs, later confirmed the plan was moving forward. Talk with TMZ a few days before the game, McLaughlin emphasized that the operation is “a whole-of-government response” conducted in accordance with the Constitution. She also presented the presence of ICE as part of standard security for major events. However, critics argue that this sends a message of intimidation to immigrant communities.
“DHS is committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure the Super Bowl is safe for everyone involved, as we do with any major sporting event, including the World Cup. Our mission remains unchanged. We will not disclose future operations or discuss personnel. Super Bowl security will involve a whole-of-government response conducted in accordance with the U.S. Constitution. Those who are here legally and are not violating other laws have nothing to fear.”
