Brooklyn Beckham claims his parents pressured him to give up rights to his name

Brooklyn Beckham issued a scathing statement coming forward with multiple allegations against her famous parents, David Beckham And Victoria Beckham – including the claim that the couple tried to “bribe” their son into signing over the rights to his name before he said “I do” to his wife Nicolas Peltz Beckham.

“Weeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing over the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children,” Brooklyn, 26, said in her social media statement shared via Instagram Stories on Monday, January 19.

“They were adamant that I sing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated,” he added in the upload. “My refusal affected payday, and they have never treated me the same way since. During wedding planning, my mother went so far as to call me ‘mean’ because Nicola and I chose to include my nanny Sandra and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, as they both don’t have their husbands. Both of our parents had their own tables also adjacent to ours.”

These rights are often a necessity for people in the public eye, including athletes, celebrities, and social media influencers. However, everyone has the right to assert their ability to publicly claim their identity if it is used without their consent.

According to the Montana law firm of Worden Thane PC, NIL rights can include a person’s name, nicknames, former names, image, likeness, voice and even signature. Even gestures or phrases that are original to a person, the law firm adds, can fall under an individual’s NIL rights.

“I’m not controlled,” he continued. “I’m defending myself for the first time in my life.”

The chef added, “My entire life, my parents have controlled the press’ narratives about our family. But I believe the truth always comes out.”
