Ashley Tisdale’s husband shares cryptic message amid moms group drama


Ashley Tisdale Frenchthe husband of, Christophe Frenchappears to explain where he stands amid his wife’s recent mom group drama.

The composer, 44, took to his Instagram Story on Tuesday, January 6, to repost a graphic by artist Tyler Spangler, originally uploaded in November 2025.

“It’s your choice whether to engage or not,” the quote reads.

Although the context of Christopher’s post is unclear, he followed up with several Instagram Stories referencing the 2021 insurrection at the United States Capitol in Washington, DC.

The cryptic upload came shortly after Ashley, 40, opened up. leaving behind a group of “toxic” friends in an essay written for The Cut earlier this month.

In the now viral article, the High school musical the star reflected on feeling at home with a circle of other moms she started spending time with after welcoming your first baby with Christopher in 2021. (The couple share daughters Jupiter, 4, and Emerson, 15 months.)

Later, however, Ashley wondered if she really fit in. “I remember being left out of a few group dates, and I knew them because Instagram made sure to feed me every photo and every Instagram story,” she wrote. “I began to feel excluded from the group, noticing each time that they seemed to exclude me. … I told myself that it was all in my head and that it was no big deal. And yet, I felt a growing distance between me and the other members of the group, who didn’t even seem to care that I wasn’t there much.”

When another group date happened without her, Ashley texted her friends saying, “This is too high school for me and I don’t want to go anymore” — which “didn’t really go over well” with the other women.

“Some others tried to work things out,” the actress recalls. “One sent me flowers, then ignored me when I thanked her. …To be clear, I never thought of moms as bad people. (Maybe one.) But I think our group dynamic stopped being healthy and positive — for me, anyway.”

After Ashley shared her story, theories began spreading on social media that group of mothers in question may have included Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore And Meghan Trainoramong others. A rep for Ashley shut down speculation to TMZ, saying the essay’s intention was to highlight the relatable experience of moving away from a group of friends.

But the drama didn’t stop there. Duff’s husband, Matthew Butsharing her own version of Ashley’s essay via her Instagram story on Tuesday.

“A group of moms tell it all through a dad’s eyes,” the parody article reads. “When you’re the most self-obsessed deaf person in the world, other moms tend to focus on their little ones.”

Koma, 38, included a photo of him and Duff, also 38, posing together on a couch. “Read my new interview with @thecut,” he wrote.

The upload has since disappeared and Duff has not addressed Ashley’s essay herself.
