Ibeh won the first half of the fight, landing cleaner shots and literally knocking Miller’s top off in the second round. “Big Baby’s engine kicked in in the second half to allow him to take the upper hand on the cards by a hair, even though his wig had suffered a 10-8 round. A forgettable, slow and sloppy fight that will strike no fear into the hearts of heavyweight rivals. 96-94 Miller, 97-93 Ibeh, 97-93 Miller.
Bruce Carrington vs. Carlos Castro – WBC Featherweight World Title
Result: Carrington KO 9. ‘Shu Shu’ Carrington survived a scare in the fourth, focusing on his accuracy and gaining ground on a dangerous Castro to finish the fight in the ninth round with a blistering and brutal five-punch combination. A fantastic world title victory in front of his hometown fans.
Keyshawn Davis vs. Jamaine Ortiz – Welterweight
Result: Davis TKO 12. Keyshawn Davis comes in at 140 with an impressive display against a clumsy operator in Ortiz. Davis took a steady lead as the rounds progressed, but Ortiz did enough to disrupt his rhythm and prevent the fight from really catching fire. That was until the eleventh, when he went to one knee following a crushing body shot. With 10 seconds left in the final round and with one eye completely closed due to swelling, Ortiz went down with the same blow and the fight was stopped. Measured, punitive and patient from Davis.
