The first part of The Bridgerton Chronicles season 4 ended on an awkward note with Sophie and Benedict — so where is the show going? until after this offer?
Netflix’s hit Regency series returned on Thursday, January 29 with Benedict (Luke Thompson) first fell in love with a mysterious woman he met at his mother’s masked ball. Things got complicated when he developed feelings for a maid named Sophie (Yerin Ha) – who we will know is the woman of the ball.
Benedict however is divided between his research for a woman he does not know and a growing attraction to Sophie, with whom he cannot have a suitable future since she is a maid. His response to these problems is a bit original with Benedict meeting Sophie on the stairs of his house (for Olivia Rodrigo“Bad Idea Right” from “Bad Idea Right”) before offering to be his mistress.
Sophie didn’t seem happy with the offer. In response, she left Benedict alone and the fate of their romance remains to be determined.
Elsewhere in the series, Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and John (Victor Alli) had various problems as a couple – and they became even trickier with the return of John’s cousin Michaela (Masali Baduza), which viewers know is Francesca’s future love.

Bénédict and Sophie

Yerin Ha and Luke Thompson in season 4 of Bridgerton
NetflixSeason 4 began with Benedict searching for a woman he met at a ball – who was none other than Sophie under a mask. Thanks to a twist of fate, they crossed paths again but this time with Benoît actually meeting Sophie the servant. They quickly established a connection and Benedict got her hired at his mother’s house, which made them even more desperate to explore their feelings for each other.
Benoît took a step towards Sophie before offering her more in life. His version of more in life even though she was his mistress, which didn’t seem so good to him.
Penelope and Colin

© 2025 Liam Daniel/NetflixMarried life seemed to suit Penelope (Nicholas Coughlan) and Colin (Luke Newton) pretty good. The Season 3 couple spent their time making love, parenting, or discussing Penelope’s new challenges now that she’s been unmasked as Lady Whistledown.
Kate and Anthony

It remains to be seen where Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) and Kate (Simone Ashley) will end up finding each other because from the first part, they were nowhere to be found. Bridgerton explained their lack of screen time by sending the couple to India after the arrival of their first baby. No further information was provided on their fate. or when they would return in London for the new social season.
Francesca and John

Victor Alli and Hannah Dodd
Liam Daniel/NetflixReturning from Scotland, Francesca is looking forward to expanding her family with John. However, the couple hasn’t been successful so far and it didn’t help that Francesca had no idea what a “top” was, which affected her sex life with her husband. She hadn’t yet discovered it at the end of Part 1, but she found Michaela – although Francesca seemed far from happy about that.
Eloise

Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton
Liam Daniel/NetflixIn another season, Eloise (Claudia Jessie) hopes she doesn’t have to look for love. Her mother has made things difficult this season but Eloise has managed to avoid any romance (so far) before her next season. Instead, Eloise ended part one with an argument with her sister Hyacinth (Florence Hunt).
Alice and Will

(L to R) Martins Imhangbe as Will Mondrich, Emma Naomi as Alice Mondrich.
Liam Daniel/NetflixAs Alice and Will adjusted to life by the ton, Lady Danbury created a plan that uprooted their lives. While Lady Danbury hoped to leave London, she needed to find a replacement to satisfy Queen Charlotte. Enter Alice, who must now prove himself to the queen.
Violet and Marcus

Most of season 4 explored Violet’s growing feelings for Marcus despite her loyalty to her late husband. Violet did consider giving Marcus a chance and the two had sex on a rare night when neither of her children were home…except maybe Benedict and Sophie on the stairs, but luckily Bridgerton House seems to be quite big.
