In other legal news involving Olympians, former Canadian snowboarder Ryan Wedding pleaded not guilty in California federal court a few weeks ago after being accused of running a billion-dollar drug ring and orchestrating several murders, according to ESPN.
Wedding was indicted in 2024 for “directing a criminal enterprise, murder, conspiracy to distribute cocaine and other crimes.”
Prosecutors accuse Wedding of transporting up to 60 tons of cocaine through parts of Mexico and the United States under the protection of the Sinaloa cartel.
The legal documents also accuse Wedding of orchestrating several murders, including the 2023 killings of two family members in Canada, a witness in Colombia and a murder over a drug debt.
Wedding was previously convicted in the United States of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and sentenced to prison in 2010 before being released in 2011.
