A Vancouver-based mining company has confirmed that 10 people were kidnapped at its project in Mexico.
Vizsla Silver Corp said the 10 people were taken to the Concordia site.
The company said the incident is currently under investigation and information is limited, but it confirms local authorities have been informed.
The company’s crisis management and security response teams are also “actively engaged.”

Some activities on and near the site have also been temporarily suspended.
The company did not identify the people or release any information about their origins.
In a statement, Global Affairs Canada said it was aware of the incident and was closely monitoring it.
The Canadian Embassy in Mexico is in contact with Mexican officials and, at this time, Global Affairs is not aware of any Canadian citizens affected by this incident.
