Tyra Banks appears to discuss public criticism of the series in upcoming Netflix documentary ‘Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model’

On Monday January 26, the official Netflix account on Xformerly known as Twitter, shared a minute-and-a-half-long clip with the caption, “…Tyra Banks, Jay Manuel, Nigel Barker, Miss J Alexander and former contestants are featured in an explosive new documentary about America’s Next Top Model, one of the most popular – and controversial – reality shows of all time.”

Additionally, the clip recounts memorable moments from all 24 seasons of the series. From glamorous to not-so-glamorous moments, the trailer included apparent body shaming that occurred during the show, makeovers including medical – but botched – dental work, alleged sexual harassment, and apparent physical stunts and injuries.

“I knew I had gone too far” Banks informs viewers in a clip before adding it. “It was very, very intense. But you demanded it. And so we kept pushing. More. And more. And more.”

In less than 24 hours, the tweet with the trailer has been viewed more than 9 million times.

Social Media Discusses Tyra Banks’ Apparent Reaction and More

Social media users then slipped into TSR comments section featuring reactions to Tyra Banks’ apparent reaction to criticism and the trailer for the documentary, which premieres February 16.

Instagram user @ohhthatsyanaa wrote: Honestly, I feel like Tyra’s behavior is/was no different than how Gordan Ramsey and Simon Powell spoke to their contestants or guests on the show…”

While Instagram user @augustblue93 added, Unpopular opinion, the fashion industry is probably even more toxic, and Tyra was only setting them up. »

Instagram user @prettyadree wrote: Janice Dickinson was actually the one explaining to them EXACTLY how the industry is doing. Tyra actually showed some compassion 😂”

While Instagram user @johnesha_knowsrealty added,Wait… were we watching the same America’s Next Top Model? Because Tyra literally did nothing wrong. She prepared these models for the industry, reported health concerns, and always made sure everyone, plus size or not, felt confident and comfortable in their own skin. She didn’t speak to anyone; she carefully taught them real-world modeling standards…”

Meanwhile, on X, users weighed in, but apparently with a very different stance.

Two ‘ANTM’ Contestants Speak Out in Reaction to Netflix Documentary Trailer for ‘Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model’

A few hours after sharing the trailer via X, Adrianne Currythe winner of the first season of “ANTM,” took the platform to share her thoughts on the series. Curry seemed to imply that she was not part of the documentary by her own decision.

“I am deeply grateful to have won the first season of Top Model. I think people psychoanalyzing it 20+ years later with a woke lens is absurd. I don’t trust people not to manipulate the things I say on TV, so I refuse everything,” she wrote. “Plus, the public is bigoted and cruel, so the last thing I want is people staring at me. I hope the other girls don’t have their words twisted on their Netflix show.”

Additionally, Curry seemed to agree when an X user wrote that he thought the documentary would be a “shit show.”

Meanwhile, another contestant on the show, Keenyah Hillwho appeared in the fourth season and won third place, weighed in TSR comments section.

“I really hope the producers don’t twist our words to fit the story 🙏🏾✨,” she wrote, confirming her appearance in the documentary.
