Ryan Hardy’s bullet tragically hits 11-year-old
According to Antioch policeRyan Hardy turned himself in this week after investigators identified him as the suspect in a Jan. 5 shooting that seriously injured an 11-year-old girl. Police said the child was sitting in her father’s SUV with several family members. As they were pulling out of the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Delta Fair Boulevard, a bullet suddenly pierced the passenger side window, hitting the girl in the head. Officers believe the family was not the intended target. Additionally, it is believed Hardy fired the gun thinking someone else was inside the vehicle.

Multiple 911 calls came in and first responders rushed to help, meeting the family at a nearby shopping center before transporting the child to a local hospital. Investigators say they have identified Ryan Hardy through witness statementssurveillance footage and forensic evidence. However, it appears that several individuals helped him escape the police before surrendering. He now faces multiple charges, including five counts of attempted murder and assault with a firearm, according to reports. Police had previously urged Hardy to hand himself in as the search intensified.
