THE The Bridgerton Chronicles the protagonists of seasons 5 and 6 have been officially chosen — but whose love story will be presented first?
Showrunner Jess Brownell confirmed that Éloïse (Claudia Jessie) and Francesca (Hannah Dodd) are at the center of upcoming episodes of the hit Netflix series when she carried two white clutches with the initials E and F during the season 4 premiere on Wednesday, January 14.
“The two characters with the initials on my covers will have seasons 5 and 6,” Brownell said. Deadline. “In what order? I can’t say.”
Jessie, 36, was also asked what she knew about when his character would take center stage.
“I wish I could say that I started working on [Eloise’s story]”, she told the outlet on Wednesday. “It would also make me look like a professional, if I started working there.”
Based on Julia Quinnthe book series, the show follows another brother and sister of the Bridgerton family in each season of their journey to find love in the Regency era. Season 1 focused on Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), then move on to Anthony (Jonathan Bailey) for the next chapter. Season 3 tripped up audiences by deviating from the original order of the book and veering toward Colin (Luke Newton) before Benoît (Luke Thompson).

“We’re working to try to get the seasons out there faster, but it takes eight months to film, and then you have to edit them, and then dub them into all the languages,” Brownell said. The Hollywood Reporter in June 2024 to find time for each member of the Bridgerton family. “Writing also takes a lot of time, so we’re kind of on a two-year pace. We’re trying to speed it up, but somewhere in that range.”
Looking to the future, fans assumed that Francesca could be a potential contender to lead season 5, since her marriage to John (Victor Alli) has already taken place on the show. This set up her romance with John’s cousin Michael, despite the fact that Bridgerton made another shocking change by making the character Michaela (Masali Baduza) instead.
Eloise, meanwhile, is set to make her long-awaited debut, but she has had no interaction with her lover, Phillip Crane (Chris Fulton). According to Quinn, Netflix plans to release eight seasons to match all the books.
“I know who’s scheduled next,” she exclusively told Us every week in May 2025. “This could always change, as [the order] has changed in the past.
The author continued, “I hope all brothers and sisters will eventually step up because we love them. [all]. That was kind of the point of the books, is that there are eight separate stories, but they’re all connected.
Although some fans expressed their frustration with the changing seasons according to the books, Quinn defended the decision.
“Whether it’s books or movies or television, they have different needs…to make them work properly, and they have different strengths,” she explained at the time. “Some things that work well in the book don’t necessarily work well on television. And so, one of the things about the TV show, which they changed a little bit [that] was necessary, it was to make it a little more whole.
Season 4 of The Bridgerton Chronicles releases part one on Netflix on January 29, while part two premieres on February 26.
