Meghan King reflects on her ‘loss’ in 2025 after custody drama

The reality star shared a vulnerable message, reflecting on her losses following a bitter custody battle with ex-husband Jim Edmonds.

Edmonds and King were scheduled to appear in court in December. However, they reached an agreement before the scheduled trial date and their three children are now in the primary custody of the former MLB star.

King ushered in the end of 2025 and the start of 2026 with a vulnerable statement on social media. The reality TV alum took Instagram to share a striking photo of herself, alone in a softly lit, Christmas-decorated hallway.

In the caption, she reflects on her losses and writes a short note about her resilience despite all the difficulties.

“I endured losses in isolated rooms, made decisions with shaking hands. I didn’t break. I bent, I adjusted, I continued when disappearing would have been easier. 2025 is over, but I remain standing,” it reads.

In the photo shared by King, she was visibly alone, without any of the three children she shares with her ex, Jim Edmonds.

King and Edmonds married in 2014. However, they separated in 2019 and finalized their divorce in 2021, after lengthy divorce proceedings.

King’s deeply thoughtful message came weeks after she reached a custody agreement over the battle over her children.

After months of uncertainty and emotional tension, King and the former MLB star were able to resolve their custody dispute over their three children, Aspen, 9, and twins Hart and Hayes, 7.

The former couple was preparing for a judge to rule on custody issues in December 2025, according to The explosion. However, they reached a private agreement that reshaped their family dynamic.

Under the new arrangement, Edmonds will have primary custody, with the children living full-time with him in Tennessee. King, even though she is no longer their primary caregiver, will still spend time with her children, including several weeks together each summer.

Before King and Edmonds reached a custody agreement, the reality star was forced to spend Thanksgiving without her family.

The emotional weight of losing custody became especially apparent over the holiday weekend, when Edmonds spent it surrounded by their children. Edmonds, now starting at senior guard, marked the celebration by sharing glimpses on social media.

The holiday weekend also served as a celebration of Aspen’s birthday, complete with flashy pink decorations and lavish gifts.

The turning point in King’s custody battle reportedly resulted from an incident that quickly escalated beyond his control.

The situation prompted an immediate response from child welfare authorities, which ultimately led to the children being removed from her care.

Sources claimed things escalated when King allegedly asked the school nurse to administer the drug Ritalin to his son, although there was no official diagnosis of ADHD. The request raised a red flag, prompting school officials to notify the appropriate authorities and triggering an investigation by Child Protective Services.

Subsequently, custody of Aspen, Hart and Hayes was temporarily transferred to King’s ex-husband.

The “RHOC” alum was then granted limited access, seeing her children under surveillance, as authorities continued to examine whether the change in custody would become permanent.
